Ha! After eight years in the Army, I certainly had enough of "being all I could be." I draw from my experience to actively discourage young men and women from joining the armed forces, especially the Army and especially at this time of perpetual war in the Middle East, Africa, and central Asia. Alas, many of the young men have already made up their minds and seem perfectly willing to offer themselves up as cannon fodder despite my graphic, if vain, arguments to disabuse them of that notion. The myth of the military remains a very culturally powerful draw despite the realities of military service.

The few women I've spoken to have been more easily dissuaded. Whatever you want to say about them, women are more practical than men when it comes to the military and a number of other issues. They care not a whit for the romantic claptrap that enshrouds the military and enlistment. Men need to wake up to this reality and fast!

I agreed with everything you said in the blog. Well done! A minor quibble would be that the white feather campaign was in WWI not WWII. Also it's surely not surley. There may be other typos, but those two stood out.

Really great article. Loved the "men should" characterisation as it helps to clarify the traditional male social role very nicely

Why is it okay for a Woman to wear Men's clothes but men are ridiculed for wearing clothes for men like scarves or Swim briefs?

Why is it okay for advertising agencies to create ads that bash and make a mockery of men but come under public scrutiny when women are portrayed likewise. (Got Milk anyone?)

Why are Men required to sign up to be drafted in the event of war in the USA whereas women are completely exempt from mandatory service.

In addition to the last point a woman has the opportunity to command the military as president but still isn't obligated to sign up for mandatory service.

Hey man thanks for standing up and speaking the truth for Men, I ve been a fan since last year with your video on youtube (hopefully there's going to be more to come coz they are so powerful!)

I just want to ask you if you could allow people to share your articles via social network (facebook or tweeter) so that others can be introduced to it without necessarily stepping into their bubble

Many of my friend know I'm into the Men's Right Movement but just aren't comfortable enough speaking face to face about it

It can also work to your benefit as a publicity

thanks
